There is nothing more precious than children.....accept maybe grandchildren!!

It's an absolutely beautiful day today. I'm sitting on the back porch with my feet in the sun as my grandson, who is over for a visit, lay next to the chair. Now he's chasing a leaf. He wants me to play with him. Hold on while I throw his toy for him to chase. He's such a good boy! As you may have guessed it's a dog! Remington Winchester is a chocolate lab puppy who weighs 78 lbs. and believes he is a lap dog! In our family, as I know is the same in many families, our animals are like our children and grandchildren as the case is for me. I have three amazing children who have "children" of their own. Both two legged and four legged!

My oldest daughter has a total of three "children". Justin, my first grandson, who is in middle school. Sugar and Gabby who came much later and are actually sisters. They are from the same litter of dachshund puppies. My son has a total of four "children"! Cheyenne, Tristan, Pinky and Spark Plug. Pinky and Spark are also dachshund puppies. My youngest only has one "child", Remy. All my children are amazing parents, to all of their "children", and I'm very proud of them. Seeing them raise their kids and thinking of the old saying, "I hope, when you get married, you have some children who act exactly the same way that you act" makes me smile. My son is living this with his son! It's like watching him grow up all over again!  Having Remy over for a visit gave me another reminder of having "children", you rarely get to go the bathroom alone! lol

Children are a gift from God and grandchildren are a gift from them. There's nothing like being a parent or grandparent. Being a parent is a full time job you don't get paid for but can be one of the most amazing, challenging, frustrating, wonderful, and worrisome jobs in the world. There's nothing like being a grandparent! You get to play all the time with your grandbabies. You're not the one who has to discipline them. I agree with the saying "spoil them and then send them home" just don't get caught!  It's important to still abide by mom and dad's rules. You don't want to teach the grandbabies they can play parents against grandparents.

When I think back on my life I'm grateful for everything and wouldn't change a thing. It wasn't always easy but I knew I had the love and support of my family. Now I not only have my family but I have my children and grandchildren.
