HOT HOT HOT!!

HOT HOT HOT!

Good old Florida weather!  It's not even summer yet and we are in the 90's! In the United States and the rest of the northern hemisphere, the first day of the summer season is the day of the year when the Sun is farthest north (on June 20th or 21st). This day is known as the Summer Solstice. The first day of summer this year is June 21, 2014.

The air-conditioning is already on and any thought of an outside activity is crazy unless it involves water. The family is beach bound tomorrow. Lots of water there! The grandkids love to play in the sand and make sand castles. Coolers of drinks and snacks will be packed for the fun. All the sand toys will be pulled out of the shed and dusted off to take. Plenty of sunscreen and a tent for shade. There will be lots of pictures for me to see of them! Closer to home is Rock Springs for water fun. The hotter it is outside the colder the water is! So refreshing! There are  lots of places to grill and pavilions to rent for parties. A plus of going to Rock Springs over the beach is if you forgot something you can drive home and get it!

I can't imagine how hot the summer is actually going to be in June. I only hope people take the proper care while being outside then as well as now. Keeping well hydrated with lots of fluids before, during, and after. Make sure kids drink cool water and sports drinks early and often. Send your child out to practice or play fully hydrated. Then, during play, make sure they take regular breaks to drink fluid, even if they aren't thirsty. Keep a close look out for other medical problem associated with the heat. Such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or heat stroke. Always take the proper care and have a great summer!!

  5. Welcome to Florida!!! The SnowBirds are the only ones who have a clue, but that doesn't always work either. At least we are prepared for it with a/c and a pool in every backyard. (well more than a few) God I LOVE the beach! I can remember being real small playing in the ocean, going every weekend when I was in High School and Spring Break. Thank You God for the perfect retreat. When I'm there everything goes away I feel refreshed without a care in the world.
